Teatro San Carlo di Napoli Announces New Superintendent

By Francisco Salazar

The CDI of the Fondazione Teatro di San Carlo, presided by President Gaetano Manfredi, has announced that Carlo Fuortes will be the new superintendent of the Teatro San Carlo.

The CDI has approved the choice and will now send it over for approval to the Minister of Culture Gennaro Sangiuliano.

If approved, Fuortes will replace the current superintendent Stéphane Lissner, who was forced out of office following the urgent legislative interventions, adopted at the meeting of the Council of Ministers of the Republic Italian dated May 4, 2023 concerning the Reform of governance including lyric-symphonic foundations which provides for the prohibition of receiving assignments, positions, and collaborations for those who have completed the 70th year of age.

Fuortes served as the superintendent of the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma through 2021.
