The Other Richard
Richard and Lauren Margison
Richard and Lauren Margison
The 'other' side of Richard has him in a different starring role – that of proud father and mentor to his 15 year-old daughter Lauren, a budding jazz/blues singer.

Richard’s own singing career began in the coffee houses and clubs in Victoria, British Columbia — in fact, he had his own rock band for ten years before he turned to opera. Richard loves to sing Stan Rogers or Gordon Lightfoot and is delighted to perform them at gala functions or a private evening at home.

Richard and Lauren have appeared on stage together, often accompanied by Richard’s wife Valerie Kuinka, a violist and opera stage director, who is currently on the directing staff of the Metropolitan Opera.
