Tri-Cities Opera will rely more on its newly renovated Opera Center next season.

TCO announced its 2016-2017 schedule at the center on Clinton Street Tuesday morning.

Next season, 3 of the 4 productions will be staged in the new Savoca Hibbitt Hall with only one performance at the Forum, the opera’s traditional home.

Tri-Cities will bring Verdi’s La Traviata to the Forum on October 16th.

The remaining schedule is Humperdinck’s Hansel and Gretel in November, a double bill of Ravel’s L’Heure Espagnole and Schoenberg’s Brettl-Lieder in February and Glass’s Hydrogen Jukebox in April.

General Director Susan Ashbaker said the move away from the Forum is based on cost.

Ashbaker said after ticket revenue is factored in, the company needs to raise an additional $114,000 to cover the costs of the Forum.

“We are working hard to avoid crippling debt as we finish this season.  In the past month, we’ve had good news.  We’ve been able to secure $70,000 in funding, including a challenge grant.  To balance the budget, we need $200,000 more,” said Ashbaker.

TCO has just two days left on a 10K matching donation challenge.

Tickets for its final production of this season, “Sweeney Todd” on April 29th and May 1st at the Forum, are on sale.
