Tri-Cities Opera gave the media a taste of its next season on Tuesday courtesy of its resident artists.

Soprano Stacey Geyer, Mezzo-Soprano Mary Beth Nelson, Tenor Jordan Schreiner and Baritone Scott Purcell sang selections from the three productions of TCO’s 2017-2018 season which was announced Tuesday.

Puccini’s classic La Boheme will be staged at the Forum Theatre on Sunday October 15th.

In November, TCO is partnering with the Southern Tier Veterans Support Group on a production of Glory Denied.

It’s an opera about the longest serving American Prisoner of War during Vietnam and there will be a special performance on Veterans Day for local veterans.

And then the season concludes with a reimagining of Bizet’s Carmen called The Tragedy of Carmen in April 2018.

General and Artistic Director Susan Ashbaker says TCO relies on support from local foundations, corporate sponsors and individual donations.

“The support of our community is really, really key. And we are really thrilled that so many people in our community are stepping up. The need continues. I would love to have the problem of saying, ‘Wow, we have too much money!’ but that’s a pipe dream,” she said.

Both Glory Denied and The Tragedy of Carmen will be staged at Savoca Hibbitt Hall inside the Opera Center on Clinton Street.
