World Emoji Day: Royal Opera House tells stories in emojis

Could this be the first time opera and emojis have gone together?
Can you guess the opera?

It would be hard to think of any two things which are a less obvious pairing than emojis and opera.

But that all changes today, when none other than the Royal Opera House will be among those celebrating World Emoji Day.

The opera institution will be tweeting throughout the day, telling the story of a famous opera or ballet using only emojis.

By guessing the opera, Twitter users will have the chance to win a pair of tickets.

Here are some of the first to be posted, and more will be tweeted roughly every half hour throughout the day.

Any idea?

How about this one?

Twitter will support the Royal Opera House’s content, encouraging the initiative to trend, while the Royal Opera House will support this with additional posts on Instagram and Facebook throughout the day.

Jeremy Paul, head of marketing communications, audiences and media at the Royal Opera House, said: “We grab any opportunity to tell narratives and teaming up with Twitter means we do this at unprecedented scale.”
