The Long Beach Opera has announced that the new production of “The Black Cat” has been postponed.

The company announced in a press release that due to logistical challenges it had opted to move the production to its 2018-19 season.

Performances were originally scheduled for Jan. 13, 20 and 21, 2018 and as a result, subscribers and single ticket buyers have been contacted and tickets can be exchanged for future productions. They also have the option of donating the tickets.

The company is also planning a replacement production with Suzan Hanson and Andreas Mitisek’s “Madness and Lies – Where Madness Lies.” The production is targeted for June 2018 in order to complete the 2017-18 season. More details are set to arrive as the company makes a formal announcement.

The Long Beach Opera recently performed a production of “The Consul” with Patricia Racette and is set to showcase “The Invention of Morel” by Stewart Copeland on March 17, 24, and 25 and “The Love Potion” by Frank Martin on May 13 and 19.
