Jennifer Rowley, Alyson Cambridge, Carl Tanner Headline Toledo Opera’s 2020-21 Season

Toledo Opera has unveiled its 2020-21 season which will feature two operas and a grand tour for the company.

“In the fall, hopefully with this dark period behind us, we will have a greater need than ever for the arts and the unparalleled experience of live opera, so we have decided to announce our season at this time,” stated Suzanne Rorick, the Executive Director of Toledo Opera.

The season will open with Verdi’s “Aida” starring Jennifer Rowley in the title role. She will be joined by Carl Tanner as Radamès and conductor Dean Williamson. The production will be directed by Jeffrey Buchman.

Performance Dates: Oct. 2 and 4, 2020

Soprano Alyson Cambridge will provide a gala concert at the Toledo Club.

Performance Date: Oct. 23, 2020

The season will be followed by Léhar’s “The Merry Widow” starring Alyson Cambridge in the title role and Keith Phares as Count Danilo.

Performance Dates: Feb. 12 and 14, 2021

The season will draw to a close with “The Grand Tour,” a concert of Grand Opera choruses led by conduct Kevin Bylsma. The performance will feature music by Bizet, Verdi, Puccini, Bernstein, and Wagner, among others. Soloists will include soprano Jill Gardner, tenor Jesse Donner, and baritone. Corey Crider conducts.
