Tiroler Landestheater Announces 2020-21 Season

The Tiroler Landestheater has announced its 2020-21 season. For the purposes of this article we will only focus on the operas presented next season.

Opera

The season opens with Puccini’s “Tosca” conducted by Lukas Beikircher in a production by Thilo Reinhardt.

Premiere Date: Sept. 26, 2020

Mussorgsky “Boris Godunov” will be directed by Thaddeus Strassberger and conducted by Tommaso Turchetta

Premiere Date: Nov. 14, 2020 

Hansjörg Sofka conducts Lehár’s “Der Zarewitsch” in a production by Sebastian Ritschel.

Premiere Date: Dec. 5, 2020

Lukas Beikircher conducts concert performances of Berlioz’s “La Damnation de Faust.”

Premiere Date: Dec. 19, 2020

Lukas Beikircher conducts Rossini’s “L’Italiana d’Algeri” in a production by Anette Leistenschneider.

Premiere Date: Feb. 6, 2021

Gregor Bloéb directs Mozart’s “Die Zauberflöte” with Andrea Sanguineti conducting.

Premiere Date: March 27, 2021

Piazzolla’s “Maria de Buenos Aires” is set to be conducted by Tommaso Turchetta in a production by Enrique Gasa Valga.

Premiere Date: May 15, 2021

Chamber Opera 

Paul Burkhard’s “Das Feuerwerk” will be performed in a production by Thomas Gassner and conducted by Hansjörg Sofka.

Premiere Date: Sept. 18, 2020

Korngold’s “Ausblick in Ein Schones Land” will be conducted by Hansjörg Sofka with direction by Björn Reinke.

Premiere Date: Feb. 13, 2021

Kerem Hasan conducts Britten’s “The Rape of Lucretia” in a production by Johannes Reitmeier.

Premiere Date: June 18, 2021
