Anita Rachvelishvili & Dmitri Platanias Headline Greek National Opera’s Free Streaming Service in April

Beginning on April 11, 2020, the Greek National Opera will start providing free broadcasts of its past operas.

The first of these streams, which will be hosted on the company’s official website, will be Bizet’s “Carmen.” The famed opera will be headlined by Anita Rachvelishvili. On April 25, 2020, the company will stream Verdi’s third opera “Nabucco” with Dmitri Platanias in the title role. These two performances will mark the initiation of a collaboration with the Hellenic Broadcast Corporation (ERT).

Concurrently, the company will also broadcast several other works. Among those in the late are “Die Fledermaus” on April 20, “The Fairy Queen” on April 22, “The Emperor’s Nightingale” on April 24, “The Mikado” on April 26, “Sataneri” on April 28, and “Prince Ivan and the Firebird” on April 30. There will also be a broadcast of Platanias’ recital on April 13, 2020.

All of the streams (except for “Carmen” and “Nabucco”) will kick off at 8 p.m. and will be available for 30 hours on the company’s official website. They will also be streamed on the company’s Facebook page.
