The Macerata Opera Festival at the Arena Sferisterio will move forward with a new revised 2020 edition.

The Italian festival, with the theme biancocoraggio, will showcase Mozart’s “Don Giovanni” in a production by Davide Livermore. The production will open on July 18 and run through August 8 with more dates expected to be added. Tickets will go on sale on June 9.

The originally scheduled production of Verdi’s “Il Trovatore” will now be two concert performances. Dates will be announced on May 31.

Meanwhile, the new production of Puccini’s “Tosca,” originally scheduled to open the festival has been postponed until 2022. Ticket holders will get vouchers that will be valid for 18 months.

The Macerata Opera Festival is the latest Italian festival to move forward following announcements by the Ravenna Festival, the Rossini Opera Festival, the Teatro dell’ Opera di Roma, Puccini Opera Festival, and Festival Valle d’Itra.
