BBC Proms Announces Revised Summer Season Plans

The BBC Proms have announced that the organization has revised their initial plan for their summer season due to the coronavirus. Instead, the celebrated concert series will be offering daily broadcasts from their extensive archives over the course of eight weeks, beginning Friday, July 17, 2020.

The Proms have also announced that it intend for the last two weeks of the season to have musicians performing live at the Royal Albert Hall with social distancing protocols in place. Further details will be given in the upcoming weeks. These live broadcasts will air or BBC Radio 3, BBC Four, and iPlayer.

“These are challenging times for our nation and the rest of the world,” BBC Proms director David Pickard stated. “But they show that we need music and the creative industries more than ever. This year it is not going to be the Proms as we know them, but the Proms as we need them. We will provide a stimulating and enriching musical summer for both loyal Proms audiences and people discovering the riches we have to offer for the first time.”
