Carmela Remigio, Francesco Meli, Luca Salsi & Xabier Anduaga Lead Festival Valle d’Itria’s Revised 2020 Edition

The Festival Valle d’itria Martina Franca has announced its revised 2020 edition.

Opera

The first work of the season will be “Il borghese gentiluomo” with music by Richard Strauss. The work based on a comedy by Moliere will star Stefano Massini and Davide Gasparro sharing the title role alongside Vittorio Prato, Ana Victoria Pitts, Barbara Massaro, Manuel Amati, Nico Franchini, Vassily Solodkyy, Alfonso Zambuto, Alberto Comes, Eugenio Di Lieto, and Djokic Strahinja. Michele Spotti conducts the production by Davide Gasparro. 

Performance Dates: July 14-August 1, 2020

Richard Strauss’ “Arianna a Nasso” will be shown in a new Italian version by Quirino Principe. The cast will include Carmela Remigio in the title role, Piero Pretti as Bacchus, Jessica Pratt as Zerbinetta, and Vittorio Prato as Arlecchino. Fabio Luisi conducts the production by Walter Pagliaro.

Concerti a Palazzo Ducale

Francesca Aspromonte and Sara Mingardo perform with Il Pomo d’oro conducted by Francesco Corti. The concerto Barocco  will include by Rossi, Strozzi, Scarlatti, Locatelli, Händel, Hasse, Galuppi, and Porpor.

Jessica Pratt and Xabier Anduaga star in the recital “di Bel Canto” with music by Rossini, Offenbach, Donizetti, and Bellini.

Anna Caterina Antonacci and Francesco Libetta perform alongside Antonio Greco and Orchestra Cremona Antiqua. The program includes music by Monteverdi, Charpentier, Leo, Respighi, Martucci, Strauss, Poulenc, and Ravel.
