La Monnaie de Mont has announced that through generous donations it was able to collect 240,000 euros.

The Belgium company said in a press statement that the donations were “an essential financial backing to bridge this period of crisis.”

The statement continued, “Thanks to these donations, our future creative output will not come under pressure. We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to each and everyone who contributed, in whatever way, to this sum. We can assure you it will be used entirely to offer you a rich program in the coming seasons.”

The theater revealed that many of the ticket holders for canceled performances opted to donate their tickets instead of getting reimbursements. La Monnaie recently announced changes to the 2020-21 season due to the Coronavirus crisis. The company postponed the world premiere of “The Time of Our Singing” and canceled “The Sleeping Thousand.”
