Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz Announces 2020-21 Season

The Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz in Munich has announced its 2020-21 season.

The season will open with a new production of Tchaikovsky’s “Eugene Onegin” on Oct. 8, 2020, followed by concert performances of Donizetti’s “Anna Bolena” on Nov. 26, 2020.

The season will also see a production of the operetta “Der Vetter aus Dingsda,” Menotti’s “The Medium,” Kenek’s “Jonny Spielt Auf,” and Doderer’s “Schuberts Reise Nach Atzenbrugg.”

On July 8, 2021, the company will stage a production of “Il Barbiere di Siviglia” from the Gran Teatre del Liceu.

The season will also include Mozart’s “Die Zauberflote,” Pigor’s “Drei Manner im Schnee,” Orff’s “Die Kluge,” Puccini’s “Tosca,” Humperdinck’s “Hansel und Gretel,” Abraham’s “Viktoria und ihr Husar,” Rossini’s “La Cenerentola,” Kálmán’s “Die Faschingsfee,” Flowtow’s “Martha,” Verdi’s “Rigoletto,” Mozart’s “Don Giovanni,” Lehár’s “The Merry Widow,” and J. Strauss’ “Wiener Blut.”

Casts will be announced at a later date.
