Teatro Regio di Torino Announces 2020-21 Season

The Teatro Regio di Torino has announced its 2020-21 season.

The season opens with “Jenůfa” by Janáček in a production by Christof Loy.

Performance Dates: Nov. 2020

The season will continue with Puccini’s “La Bohème” in a new production by Paolo Gavazzeni e Piero Maranghi.

Performance Dates: Dec. 2020

Verdi’s “Un Ballo in Maschera” returns to the Teatro Regio di Torino in Lorenzo Mariani’s acclaimed production.

Performance Dates: Jan. 2021

Salieri’s “La scuola de’ gelosi” will be performed at the Piccolo Regio Puccini. The Regio premiere will be directed by Jean Renshaw.

Barrie Kosky’s acclaimed production of Mozart’s “Die Zauberflöte” returns to the Teatro Regio.

Performance Dates: Feb. 2021

Mozart’s “La finta semplice” gets its Teatro Regio premiere in a production by Laurent Pelly.

Performance Dates: March 2021

Thomas Adès’ “Powder Her Face” receives its Teatro Regio premiere at the Piccolo Regio Puccini. The opera will be directed by Philipp M. Krenn.

Performance Dates: March 2021

Bach’s Matthäus-Passion receives a new production by Andrea Bernard.

Performance Dates: April 2021

Donizetti’s “Don Pasquale” returns to Torino in a production by Ugo Gregoretti.

Performance Dates: April 2021

Poulenc’s “Dialogues des Carmélites” makes its Teatro Regio premiere in a production by Sophie Hunter directed by Santiago Calatrava.

Performance Dates: May 2021

Florian Leopold Gassmann’s “L’opera seria” makes its Teatro Regio premiere. The opera will be directed by Francesco Micheli.

Performance Dates: June 2021

The summer productions will be held at the Parco Dora and will include Verdi’s “La Traviata” in a production by Laurent Pelly, Rossini’s “Il Barbiere di Siviglia”  in a production by Vittorio Borrelli, and Leoncavallo’s “Pagliacci” in a production by Gabriele Lavia. All productions will be performed in July 2021.
