Gregory Kunde, Jessica Pratt & Karah Son Lead Teatro Comunale di Bologna’s 2020 Autumn Season

The Teatro Comunale di Bologna has revealed a new autumn season at the Paladozza, the basketball stadium in Bologna, Italy.

Opera

The autumn season opens with a semi-staged production of Donizetti’s “L’Elisir d’Amore” with Maria Rita Combattelli, Beatriz de Sousa Chaveiro, Klodjan Kacani, César Arrieta, Alberto Bonifazio, Jacobo Ochoa Piedrahita, Givi Gigineishvili, Matteo Andrea Mollica, Sofìa Esparza Jàuregui, and Leonora Tess.

Jonathan Brandani conducts Pablo Maritano’s semi-staged production.

Performance Dates: Sept. 29-Oct. 7, 2020

Puccini’s “Madama Butterfly” will be performed in concert with Karah Son and Svetlana Kasyan sharing the title role, Cristina Melis as Suzuki, Angelo Villari and Raffaele Abete as Pinkerton, and Dario Solari and Gustavo Castillo as Sharpless.

Performance Dates: Oct. 18-21, 2020

Asher Fisch conducts Gabriele Lavia new production of Verdi’s “Otello” with Gregory Kunde in the title role, Franco Vassallo and Angelo Veccia as Iago, and Mariangela Sicilia and Federica Vitali as Desdemona.

Performance Dates: Nov. 11-18, 2020

Concerts 

Hirofumi Yoshida and Jessica Pratt team up for music by Bellini, Donizetti, and Beethoven.
