The Teatro dell’Opera di Roma has announced a new autumn season for the Teatro Costanzi following restrictions due to the COVID-19 crisis.

The company announced that due to the state of emergency it is canceling “Notre-Dame de Paris,” “The Rake’s Progress,” and “Oedipus Rex.”

In August there will be a series of concerts with the Orchestra e il Coro del Teatro dell’Opera di Roma and the participation of singers from the “Fabbrica” Young Artist Program.

The first will be dedicated to Vivaldi’s “Le quattro stagioni” with soloist Vincenzo Bolognese. The program will also include the composer’s “Gloria,” conducted by Roberto Gabbiani. Soloists include Agnieszka Jadwiga Grochala, Marianna Mappa e Irene Savignano.

Performance Date: August 28, 2020

The Orchestra and Coro del Teatro dell’Opera conducted by Paolo Arrivabeni will perform a Tutto Verdi concert dedicated to some of the most popular works from the composer.

Performance Dates: Sept. 3 & 5 2020

Rossini’s Petite messe solennelle will be performed with Agnieszka Jadwiga Grochala, Irene Savignano, Rodrigo Ortiz, and Alessandro Della Morte conducted by Jader Bignamini.

Performance Date: Oct. 1, 2020

The ballet “Le quattro stagioni” returns to the Costanzi after selling out at the Circo Massimo.

 Performance Date: Sept. 22-27, 2020

Mozart’s “Zaide” makes its Costanzi premiere conducted by Daniele Gatti and directed by Graham Vick. The work is set to star Chen Reiss, Paul Nilon, Juan Francisco Gatell, Markus Werba, and Stephen Richardson.

Performance Dates: Oct. 27, 2020

The autumn season concludes with “La Traviata” in Sofia Coppola’s production adapted to restrictions for the COVID-19 crisis. The cast will include Zuzana Marková and Claudia Pavone alternating as Violetta Valery; Sergey Romanovsky, Iván Ayón Rivas, and Alessandro Scotto Di Luzio sharing the role of Alfredo; and Marco Caria and Simone Del Savio as Germont.
