Andreas Schager, Elisabet Strid, René Pape, Stefan Vinke, Evelyn Herlitzius Highlight Oper Leipzig’s Wagner 22 Festival

The Oper Leipzig has announced the Wagner 22 festival.

The festival, which is set to be held from June 20 to July 14, 2022, will showcase all 13 Richard Wagner operas and will feature such artists as Andreas Schager, Stefan Vinke, Elisabet Strid, René Pape, Evelyn Herlitzius, Jennifer Holloway, Lise Lindstrom, Manuela Uhl, Iain Paterson, Klaus Florian Vogt, Daniela Sindram, Markus Eiche, and Michael Volle.

Wagner’s first opera “Die Feen” will open the festival on June 20; “Das Liebesverbot” will be performed on June 21; “Rienzi” will be on the repertoire on June 23; “Der Fliegende Holländer” will be performed on June 25; “Tannhäuser” will be performed on June 26; “Lohengrin” will follow on June 30;  “Tristan und Isolde” will be showcased on July 1; “Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg” will be performed on July 3; “Das Rheingold,” “Die Walküre,” “Siegfried,” and “Götterdämmerung” will take the stage between July 7 and July 10; Wagner’s final masterwork “Parsifal” will conclude the festival on July 14, 2022.

The festival will also present events Wagneriana I and II showcasing Wagner’s works for the piano, and compositions that have links with Wagner’s overall work.
