Riccardo Muti, Teresa Iervolino, & Vincent Wolfsteiner Highlight Teatro La Fenice’s 2020-21 Season

The Teatro La Fenice has announced the first part of its 2020-21 season, which is set to run from Oct. 30 to Feb. 16, 2021.

The new season begins with concert performances featuring Juraj Valčuha conducting the Orchestra del Teatro La Fenice. The concert will include music by Claude Debussy and Modest Mussorgsky.

Performance Dates: Oct. 30-21, 2020

Riccardo Muti conducts a program including Schubert’s Symphony No. 3 and Dvořák’s Symphony No. 9. The concert will mark the conductor’s 50th Anniversary since his debut at the famed house.

Performance Date: Nov. 23, 2020

Myung-Whun Chung conducts Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 with soloists Laura Aikin, Anke Vondung, Michael Schade, and Thomas Johannes Mayer.

Performance Dates: Nov. 27 & 29, 2020

Frédéric Chaslin and Hartmut Haenchen conduct music by Berlioz, Ravel, and Mahler.

Performance Dates: Dec. 5 & 6, 2020 & Dec. 12 & 13, 2020

Claudio Marino Moretti will conduct the chorus and instrumentalists of the  Teatro La Fenice in Alfred Schnittke’s Requiem.

Performance Date: Dec. 11, 2020

Gianluca Capuano will conduct the Christmas concert that will include the Te Deum by Marc-Antoine Charpentier and music by Arcangelo Corelli.

Performance Dates: Dec. 19 & 20, 2020

The Teatro la Fenice will host its annual New Year’s Concert with Daniel Harding conducting music by Verdi and other operatic favorites. The concert will be broadcast on Rai1.

Performance Dates: Dec. 29, 2020-Jan. 1, 2021

The Teatro will hold a number of concerts with music by Haydn, Schubert, Mozart, Brahms and more conducted by Alexander Lonquich, Mario Venzago, and Markus Stenz.

Performance Dates: Jan. 9-31, 2021

Beethoven’s “Fidelio” will be conducted by Myung-Whun Chung. The cast will include Vincent Wolfsteiner, Samuel Youn, Maida Hundeling, Franz-Josef Selig, Eva Liebau, and Leonardo Cortellazzi.

Performance Dates: Nov. 20-28, 2020

Händel’s “Rinaldo” is set to be presented in a production by Pier Luigi Pizzi. The opera will be conducted by Federico Maria Sardelli and star Teresa Iervolino in the title role, Leonardo Cortellazzi, Francesca Aspromonte, Ruth Iniesta, Andrea Patucell, and William Corrò.

Performance Dates: Jan. 22-26, 2021

Rossini’s “La Cenerentola” will be presented in a new production by Fabio Ceresa with Giancarlo Andretta conducting.

Performance Dates: Feb. 10-16, 2021
