The Teatro Real de Madrid is set to make adjustments to its production of “Rusalka.”

The company announced that Eric Cutler broke his Achilles Tendon during the General Rehearsal but will still perform. According to a press release, the Prince in the production is a lame ballerina and after two months of rehearsals, director Christof Loy and Cutler agreed the tenor could go on with crutches.

The Teatro Real noted that there was a cover and a second cast but Cutler insisted he wanted to make his role debut.

Cutler is set to perform alongside Asmik Grigorian, Karita Mattila, Maxim Kuzmin-Karavaev, and Katarina Dalayman. Ivor Bolton conducts the production. The second cast is set to star Olesya Golovneva, David Butt Philip, Rebecca von Lipinski, Andreas Bauer Kanabas, and Okka von der Damerau.
