By David Salazar

Opera Omaha has announced that it will postpone its 2020-21 season.

In a press release, the company stated that the decision was made to “protect the safety of our patrons, artists, and staff” and there is an intent to work with artists and creative teams to offer up the previously announced titled in innovative productions during the 2021-22 season. The new season will be announced in early 2021.

The postponed productions include “The Marriage of Figaro” and “Sweeney Todd; The Demon of Barber Street,” originally scheduled for February 2021 and April 2021, respectively.

The company is planning to offer “Opera to Go” neighborhood concerts once the weather permits and will develop new outdoor programming for late spring 2021.

Additionally, Opera Omaha will continue to produce digital content and other virtual events.
