Francesco Meli Named Artistic Director of Teatro Carlo Felice’s Academy Program

Francesco Meli has been named artistic director and one of the tutors at the Academy of Advanced Professional Training and Placement for Opera Singers by Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa, Italy.

Meli will join Giulio Zappa, Vittorio Terranova, Antonella D’Amico, Roberto De Candia, Elisabeth Norberg-Schulz, Silvia Paoli, Daniele Callegari, and Serena Gamberoni, who are tutors.

The Academy is now open for enrollment. One of the institution’ss objectives is to place participants in a production of Donizetti’s “L’elisir d’amore,” which will be staged in June 2021 at Teatro Carlo Felice. There will also be performances at the Teatro degli Arcimboldi in Milan in September 2021.

Ten young singers with “appropriate artistic and vocal qualities” will be selected for the Academy and will be given the opportunity to consolidate and perfect different vocal, musical, and theatrical skills that characterize the modern opera singer.

Enrollment and course attendance are both free of charge. The deadline for application is Jan. 31, 2021.
