The Opera de Paris is officially reopening to the public on May 19.

In a message, General Director Alexander Neef said, “As rehearsals for our productions have continued over the past few weeks despite the health crisis, we are able to offer you a varied program at the Palais Garnier and the Opéra Bastille, as well as at the Théâtre des Bouffes-du-Nord where the artists of the Paris Opera Academy will be appearing.”

The Palais Garnier will stage the world premiere of “Le Soulier de satin,” an opera composed and conducted by Marc-André Dalbavie. The work will be presented from May 21 to June 13 and is inspired by the work of Paul Claudel. It will be broadcast on chezsoi.operadeparis.fr and medici.tv as of June 13 at 2:30pm, then on France Musique on June 19 at 8pm.

The Hommage à Roland Petit evening will be presented from May 28 to July 7 while Mozart’s “La Clemenza di Tito” will be performed from June 30 to July 13.

Puccini’s “Tosca” will run from June 4 to 25 and there will be a series of concerts devoted to the works of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky from June 6 to 12.

On July 2, Philippe Jordan will bid farewell to the Paris Opera’s stage as its musical director during an exceptional concert and the Academy’s production of “The Rape of Lucretia” will be performed from ay 19 to 29, 2021.

The company will also present a number of ballet offerings.
