The Teatro San Carlo di Napoli has appointed Dan Ettinger as its next music director.

Ettinger’s tenure is set to kick off in 2023. He will continue on as chief conductor of the Israel Symphony Orchestra Richon LeZion, the Israel Opera, and the Stuttgart Philharmonic.

“I am honored to have been appointed Musical Director of the @teatrosancarlo beginning in 2023 and cannot wait to continue building my relationship with the incredible musicians here in Napoli,” Ettinger stated on his social media channels. “I have been blown away by the musicianship and artistry by both the singers and orchestra at the opera house, and am looking forward to creating more music together!”

Ettinger’s career as a conductor began in 2002 when he was co-principal guest conductor of the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra. From there he would perform at all the major opera companies around the world including the Vienna State Opera, the Metropolitan Opera, and the Royal Opera Opera, Covent Garden.
