Opera National de Paris Announces Three HD Productions for 2021-22 Season

The Opera National de Paris is set to present three productions live in cinemas throughout the 2021-22 season.

The first production of the 2021-22 season will be “Le Nozze di Figaro” with Peter Mattei, Maria Bengtsson, Ying Fang, Ildebrando D’Arcangelo, and Lea Desandre. Gustavo Dudamel conducts.

Cinema Date: Feb. 3, 2022

That will be followed by Massenet’s “Cendrillon” starring Tara Erraught, Daniela Barcellona, Anna Stephany, Kathleen Kim, Charlotte Bonnet, Marion Lebègue, and Lionel Lhote. The new production is directed by Mariame Clément and will be conducted by Carlo Rizzi.

Cinema Date: April 7, 2022

The final live in cinema production will be Rameau’s “Platée” with Mathias Vidal, Nahuel di Pierro, Marc Mauillon, Julie Fuchs, Tamara Bounazou, Lawrence Brownlee, Jean Teitgen, Reinoud Van Mechelen, and Adriana Bignani-Lesca. Marc Minkowksi conducts the new Laurent Pelly.

Cinema Date: June 21, 2022

The Viva l’opera series will also show past productions from the Paris Opera including “Aida” starring Jonas Kaufmann and Sondra Radvanovsky and “Faust” with Benjamin Bernheim. Other productions to be shown in cinemas include “La Traviata” from the Salzburg Festival, “Anna Bolena” and “Carmen” from Opera de Monte Carlo, “Madama Butterfly” and “Turandot” from Teatro alla Scala, “La Forza del Destino” from the Royal Opera, “La Sonnambula” from Teatro La Fenice, “Werther” from Opernhaus Zürich,” “Rusalka” from China, “The Magic Flute”  from Glyndebourne, and “Jenufa” from La Monnaie.
