Anna Netrebko, Jonas Kaufmann, Diana Damrau, Elīna Garanča & Nina Stemme Highlight Bayerische Staatsoper’s Farewell Concert for Nikolaus Bachler

The Bayerische Staatsoper has announced a farewell concert in honor of its outgoing Intendant Nikolaus Bachler. The concert will take place on July 30, 2021 at the Nationaltheater.

The concert will feature some of the world’s greatest performers, including Anna Netrebko, Jonas Kaufmann, Diana Damrau, Elīna Garanča, Nina Stemme, Alex Esposito, Christian Gerhaher, Anja Harteros, Ermonela Jaho, Anja Kampe, Wolfgang Koch, Anne Sofie von Otter, Marlis Petersen, Anne Schwanewilms, Sir Bryn Terfel, Pavol Breslik, and Georg Zeppenfeld.

The evening will be conducted by Ivor Bolton, Constantinos Carydis, Asher Fisch, Kent Nagano, and Kirill Petrenko. Gerold Huber will play the piano.

Nicknamed Prince of Opera, Bachler has served as Intendant of Germany’s largest opera house since 2008. In his rich and lengthy career, Bachler also served as Intendant of the Volksoper Wien and Wiener Festwochen, among others. He has been appointed the Intendant of the Osterfestspiele Salzburg and General Artistic Director of the Festival starting in 2022.
