Göteborg Opera Announces Second Half of 2021-22 Season

Göteborg Opera has announced the second half of its 2021-22 season.

The season kicks off with Wagner’s “Götterdämmerung” in a production by Stephen Landgridge. Evan Rogister conducts a cast headlined by Daniel Brenna, Mats Persson, Mats Almgren, AnnLouice Lögdlund, and Ólafur Sigurdarson.

Performance Dates: Dec. 5, 2021 – Jan. 9, 2022

The company will celebrate the 400th anniversary of the city of Gothenburg with a production of Gösta Nystroem’s “Herr Arnes Pennigar.” Mattias Ermedahl will direct a cast starring Anders Lorentzson, Annalena Persson, Julia Sporsén, Tomas Lind, Katarina Giotas, Anton Eriksson, and Daniel Ralphsson, among others. Patrik Ringborg conducts.

The opera tells the tale of a young woman faced with either seeking out revenge for the victims of a massacre or surrendering to love.

Performance Dates: Feb. 19 – March 12, 2022

David Bösch will direct “Rigoletto” with a cast starring Davide Giusti, Ólafur Sigurdarson, David Kempster, and Ida Falk Winland, among others. Francesco Angelico conducts.

Performance Dates: April 14 – May 29, 2022 

Finally, the season closes with Claes Eriksson’s production of Donizetti’s “Viva la Mamma” starring Kerstin Avemo, Mattias Ermedahl, Mia Karlsson, Åke Zetterström, and Ann-Kristin Jones, among others.

Performance Dates: May 7 – June 10, 2022
