Conductor Francesco Lanzillotta Suffers Road Accident; Cancels Rossini Opera Festival Performances

The Rossini Opera Festival has announced that Maestro Francesco Lanzillotta has suffered a road accident.

The company said that as a result the conductor was forced to cancel the August 16th performance of “Adelaide di Borgogna” as well as the performance set for August 22.

As a result, Maestro Enrico Lombardi, his assistant, took over the August 16 performance and will conduct the final performance.

“Adelaide di Borgogna” is set to star Varduhi Abrahamyan, Olga Peretyatko, Riccardo Fassi, Rene Barbera, and Paola Leoci.

Lanzillotta has conducted at the Deutsche Oper Berlin Bayerische Staatsoper, Oper Frankfurt, and Maggio Musicale Fiorentino. He is set to return to the stage for a production of “I Lombardi” at the Teatro Regio di Parma.
