Anthony Hopkins is set to star in a biopic about the life of George Frideric Händel.

Variety reports that the two-time Academy Award-winning actor will interpret the role of the famed composer in “The King of Covent Garden,” set during the period when Händel worked on his choral masterpiece “Messiah.”

The movie will be produced by Embankment Films, which produced Hopkins’ Oscar-winning film “The Father.”

The movie will be directed by Andrew Levitas and written by Tim Slover. Dan Lupovitz and Kevan Van Thompson will produce. Popopera star Katherine Jenkins joins Peter Touche as executive producer.

The movie is set to be released in the fall of 2025.

This is the latest classical music film announced out of Hollywood following “Tar,” “Maestro,” and “Chevalier.” This year “Maria,” based on the life of Maria Callas, is set to be released and a “Vivaldi” film was recently announced.
