'Frida' a colorful and complex story about the life of Frida Kahlo

CLINTON TOWNSHIP, MI -- Macomb Center for the Performing Arts was the first of three stops for Frida, a co-production of Michigan Opera Theatre and the Macomb Center for the Performing Arts about the ups and downs of Frida Kahlo life.

Sung both in English and Spanish, Frida is about the exciting and colorful adventures of Mexican artist Frida Kahlo, including her time spent in the U.S., her complex relationship with artist Diego Rivera and her last day alive. The music was created by Robert Xavier Rodriguez.

Catalina Cuervo, who plays Kahlo, sings passionately alongside Ricardo Herrera, who performs as Diego Rivera, and many other talented singers who depict prominent roles in Kahlo's life.

Frida will be performed at two more venues this month.
